9PM Wednesday – Update on Hurricane Bill

Hurricane Bill is a category 4 storm with winds of 135 mph. The storm is not an imminent threat to Southern New England, but it bears very close monitoring over the next couple of days.

At this point, the greatest impact in Southern New England should be high surf. If the storm is as intense as forecast, even a track 300 miles to our east would throw very high waves at our south-facing beaches. A high rip current risk is likely at many area beaches Saturday and Sunday.
